How does python put up with R in terms of statistics and machine learning?

@crocket: in my experience, R has a more mature and robust quantitative ecosystem, but python has good packages as well in addition to being easier to learn/read/generally more of a pleasure to work with

2016-02-02T17:14:06.000171Z

although, probs slower

Is http-kit the chosen package for making network requests?

2016-02-02T18:02:12.000175Z

if so, then how do I install/use it?

2016-02-02T18:02:41.000176Z

wrong room I think

akiva 2016-02-02T18:03:04.000177Z

#C053AK3F9 might be the way to go.

jaen 2016-02-02T18:04:22.000178Z

@griesmey: if you mean "a http client" by that it's one option, but there's also aleph or clj-http. http-kit is good, but it's less maintained these days. Also yeah, #C053AK3F9 or #C03S1KBA2 would be good channels probably.

2016-02-02T18:04:41.000179Z

cool

2016-02-02T18:06:41.000180Z

how do I install packages?

joetague 2016-02-02T18:11:22.000181Z

Is http://clojars.org down?

joetague 2016-02-02T18:11:35.000182Z

I’ve checked downforeveryone and it says yes

joetague 2016-02-02T18:13:07.000185Z

@tcrawley: thanks

Anyone happen to know of any details wrt EuroClojure 2016?

jaen 2016-02-02T21:23:08.000190Z

I guess that's a bit too early to contemplate that. It's half a year away after all.

jaen 2016-02-02T21:23:45.000191Z

I hope it'll be closer to Poland this time. It was awesome I could take part in it when it was in Kraków. And then Barcelona next year...

jaen 2016-02-02T21:24:28.000192Z

That was too far and too expensive for me at the time : |

2016-02-02T21:24:54.000193Z

You have LambdaDays in Poland in a few weeks, don't get greedy 😛

jaen 2016-02-02T21:32:03.000195Z

And Polyconf ; d

jaen 2016-02-02T21:32:32.000196Z

I don't ask for the next EuroClojure to be in Poland again, mind you. Just not the whole other end of the continent ; d

jaen 2016-02-02T21:32:50.000197Z

I wouldn't mind Netherlands or something; that's relatively close.

alexmiller 2016-02-02T23:21:03.000199Z

@nano: still undetermined although we are making progress on that

2016-02-02T23:25:08.000200Z

cool, thanks.

2016-02-02T23:39:52.000201Z

quick question. i’m new to clojurians. where would be the right place to announce a project not implemented in clojure but related ? for example: i want to release a c++ port of the clojure api. it’s something that came out of a private project of mine, but i think it might have some value for other people

jaen 2016-02-02T23:42:30.000202Z

#C03RZGPG3 could be a good guess?

2016-02-02T23:47:17.000203Z

that’s what i figured. thanks

meow 2016-02-02T23:48:32.000204Z

@jkrueger: You could also post something in #C06MAR553 .

2016-02-02T23:55:21.000206Z

@meow: will do. i just wanted to make sure that i’m not schmutzing up some place

meow 2016-02-02T23:58:11.000207Z

@jkrueger: Trust me. I already did that. Bull in a china shop style, FTW. 😇 👽

2016-02-02T23:58:44.000208Z
