What is this channel for other than counting the number of people on the group?

Think of it as the "lobby". Slack requires that everyone be joined to one or two channels so every Slack tends to get a large channel that is not practical for conversations.

any one got ideas for building a clojure app for a newlearner coming from Ruby?

maybe suggest porting some existing Ruby gem?

It seems nobody found a good use for #C03RZGPG1 on clojurians.

#C03RZGPG1 and #C03S1KBA2 are a bit redundant, imho the latter shouldnt exist (since we can't get rid of general)

Why do you think #C03S1KBA2 is redundant? It captures clojure topics well. I cannot think of a better name, yet.

general and clojure have more or less the same scope, and one of them is not deletable

Re: naming of #C03RZGPG1 -- raised with the admin team for input. Totally agree that a more specific name would help. Also updating the Purpose and Current topic would help too I think. Expect changes "soon".
