That's interesting - someone is interested in seeing a presentation on Alda at Clojure/west 2016: https://github.com/clojurewest/clojurewest2016/wiki/Suggested-Topics
@meow: I guess the cat's out of the bag -- I'll be giving that talk
oh, i misread
i let the cat out of the bag then, lol -- i'll be giving a talk on alda at clojure remote
i did submit the same talk for clojurewest, though
good to see there is some interest! 🤘
@dave: Excellent. I'm planning to submit a proposal for clojure/west on my polygon mesh processing library. Which I want to use for virtual reality. And who doesn't want music with their procedurally generated virtual reality? So that should finally bring me around to working with Alda.
that sounds super interesting
You can see some of the shapes I've created on my twitter account: https://twitter.com/ErgoAlgorithmic
whoa, cool
what degree of control do you have over the result? like, what is the input?
100% control. I'm creating those shapes from seed platonic solids that I put through a variety of operators and ultimately output a mesh of triangles as an X3D file.
I'm still fleshing it out and just switched to using core.matrix for some of the underlying data structures but all the code is here: https://github.com/pkobrien/cad/tree/master/src/cad/mesh
whoaaaa -- github actually lets you view .stl files in 3D
https://github.com/pkobrien/cad/blob/master/output/decorum/decorum-cuboid-vase-test-01.stl
this is really cool. i'm gonna have to play around with this sometime
@dave: please do - its great fun
I upload the X3D files to Shapeways so people can buy them. They have a good preview tool for the full-color designs. I'll post a link to one here in a minute.
cool -- brb in like 20 mins
Here's a fun shape. I have better control over the colors now than when I posted this one: https://www.shapeways.com/model/3dtools/4161130/1/26?key=a00a912b2bdd8118c3e413918ab68bd6
