what even is a platform anymore

seancorfield 2021-04-22T06:20:41.261Z

Nice! I've been waiting for this to hit the Insider channels for a while. As soon as I get the latest build installed, I look forward to retiring VcXsrv πŸ™‚

seancorfield 2021-04-22T07:30:12.261300Z

Oh this is lovely!

seancorfield 2021-04-22T07:30:51.262Z

Just fired up Reveal on WSL2 without Xlaunch installed and it’s super fast and pixel-gorgeous πŸ™‚

borkdude 2021-04-22T09:06:49.262300Z

@bozhidar Have you already tried emacs with wslg? :)

borkdude 2021-04-22T09:07:17.262800Z

I haven't yet (first I should figure out how to get this insider stuff installed)

bozhidar 2021-04-22T09:48:36.263800Z

@borkdude Not yet - it works great with X410, so I'm in no rush. Of course, I'll be the first to switch to wslg, once it reaches GA.

bozhidar 2021-04-22T09:49:09.264300Z

The only real issue with X410 is that the X session gets killed on sleep, but at this point I've grown very used to this. πŸ˜„

so apparently thanks to Microsoft, it's finally the year of the Linux desktop?

borkdude 2021-04-22T13:03:30.266200Z

yes. I'm following a podcast (Coder Radio) where one of the hosts (both are linux fans) predicted that Microsoft is a bigger "threat" (in the sense that you won't install bare linux) to linux on the desktop than Apple right now because of WSL

borkdude 2021-04-22T13:04:14.266500Z

and he may be right. What an irony

alexmiller 2021-04-22T13:09:50.267500Z

it's a weird world

borkdude 2021-04-22T13:17:40.268Z

In 10 years from now they'll be fighting over which OS provides the best out of the box Clojure experience.

alexmiller 2021-04-22T13:19:07.268200Z

ClojureOS obviously
