Morning

slipset 2021-04-08T10:10:13.077400Z

Morning, a little belated such.

slipset 2021-04-08T10:11:02.078100Z

Spent my morning having a stab at https://clojure.atlassian.net/jira/software/c/projects/DJSON/issues/DJSON-41 what a nightmare a couple of decades worth of Dates in Java is.

jasonbell 2021-04-08T10:33:28.078800Z

@slipset It’s never a belated morning, it’s always Morning 🙂 #UGT

slipset 2021-04-08T10:35:20.080100Z

Kind’a agree, but what I wanted to communicate was that my morning actually happened quite a few hours ago, but I never got around to wishing everyone a good morning at that point, and as such, my good morning wishes/greating arrived a bit late in relation to when my good morning was.

jasonbell 2021-04-08T10:37:38.080400Z

Ah gotcha @slipset. Morning! 🙂

dharrigan 2021-04-08T10:49:04.080600Z

agigao 2021-04-08T12:09:39.082700Z

@simongray Apologies for such a late response. Yes, it’s Georgian. Elvish? Let me look it up ^^

thomas 2021-04-08T14:37:29.083800Z

just make it a cron job like @borkdude has in #clojure-nl

reefersleep 2021-04-08T20:06:57.084100Z

Did you hear about Ubiquiti’s breach?

reefersleep 2021-04-08T20:07:07.084300Z

Not that I know a lot about it myself, just thought you’d be intrested

dharrigan 2021-04-08T20:07:40.084500Z

Yup

dharrigan 2021-04-08T20:07:56.084700Z

I run the controller locally, no cloud. So unaffected.

reefersleep 2021-04-08T20:09:24.084900Z

Thought you’d be safe 🙂 Is there an advantage to running it via the cloud? Accessing it from wherever in the world, maybe?

reefersleep 2021-04-08T20:09:34.085100Z

Is it a hassle to run locally?

reefersleep 2021-04-08T20:09:39.085300Z

(relatively)

dharrigan 2021-04-08T20:09:40.085500Z

it's dead easy to run locally

dharrigan 2021-04-08T20:09:50.085700Z

I run it in a LXD container

dharrigan 2021-04-08T20:10:41.085900Z

reefersleep 2021-04-08T20:10:44.086100Z

Never heard of that before. What’s the difference between LXD and Docker?

dharrigan 2021-04-08T20:11:02.086300Z

Docker is app-centric, i.e., it normally runs your process as init 1

dharrigan 2021-04-08T20:11:17.086500Z

LXD is os-centric, you get a full OS, but running on the host kernel

dharrigan 2021-04-08T20:11:29.086700Z

you can compare it to a BSD Jail

reefersleep 2021-04-08T20:11:34.086900Z

Ah. Lovely!

reefersleep 2021-04-08T20:11:39.087100Z

Thanks for elaborating 🙂

dharrigan 2021-04-08T20:12:32.087300Z

I can create a lxd container runing arch, ubuntu, alpine, mint, centos, kali, debian, oracle...

dharrigan 2021-04-08T20:13:05.087500Z

so I get to play with a new distro when I want, with the understanding that it runs on my host linux kernel
