Good morning. TIL https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.ck. Something for rayfu?

slipset 2021-05-17T07:24:48.306600Z

Problem seems to be that the .ck TLD is not available on its own.

simongray 2021-05-17T07:35:27.306800Z

http://rayfu.ck?

simongray 2021-05-17T07:35:42.307400Z

XD

simongray 2021-05-17T07:36:07.307600Z

.http://co.ck is funny by itself…. http://big.co.ck is available for only €202, so I guess they’re a bit hesitant when it comes to handling out funny domains as a joke. Pretty sure that one would have been taken within 5 minutes.

Reminds me of a discussion in a Swedish coders group on Facebook where someone asked for strategy ideas in auto-filtering away “bad” user names. My input was just, “Don’t bother, where there’s a will there’s a way”.

thomas 2021-05-17T08:16:00.311500Z

morning, yeah... no point in filtering 'bad' user names... I agree

Autofiltering usernames can even be harmful, there were more than one instance were people with “non-english” usernames were discriminated by name filters

pez 2021-05-17T10:15:58.314700Z

Safe to google Scunthorpe?

dharrigan 2021-05-17T10:16:08.314900Z

yes

It's a town in the north of England

dharrigan 2021-05-17T10:16:41.315800Z

it has an unfortunate naming problem, I think facebook(?) took exception to the naming

dharrigan 2021-05-17T10:17:22.316100Z

Indeed, it has an entire section devoted to it: <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scunthorpe#Internet_obscenity_filters>

the only name I am reasonably sure is an oooold penis joke is Shakespeare, which is appropriate given the number he tells in his plays and poems (which is a lot)

(happy to delete the above if Shakespeare is NSFW)

Good morning! Turned out Saturday’s recording of my :clojureD presentation was a bit crappy. I was in the wrong mood. But I fixed that yesterday and am now uploading the result. It was super fun preparing and presenting, but now I will enjoy not being in prepare-a-presentation mode for a while. 😃
