Yello!
Oh Yeah! 🎶
Good morning
Morning
Hello, friends.
Greetings, European Clojurians!
Morning!
morning
Happy sunny day 🙂 ☀️
Morning
maaning
Mawning!
Just want to say again that this channel makes me consistently happy as we support each other through troubles and celebrate each others victories. I know it is a bit earnest, but I think it is worth recognising what is valuable and good in a community
Morning!
morning
I second that
love you guys!
🥲
It should totally be celebrated. I’ve gotten so much help and support from you people in this channel. Loving it. Loving you! ❤️
Morning!
Buongiorno!
morning! 🥵
🎉🙌
Morning!
Oh, I have to agree with :bruce: don’t I! 😬 It’s like the Trolley Problem but worse.
Morning
morning
we love even love you @jasonbell 😉
In times (for me long times) of remote work this channel is a weird cross over of friends and (former) coworkers. so many awesome people
even I ❤️ @jasonbell just don't tell him or the jokes won't work any more
Morning
I've posted a message in #news-and-articles about the London Clojurians Open Collective if you know any companies or individuals interested in financially supporting the community, especially as our online meetups are reaching ever growing and international live audiences. Thank you.
Good morning!
I’m celebrating my son taking a poop in the potty for the first time 🥳
Your parenting duties are practically complete.
Well done.
my sister-in-law's son also tells everyone which letter he pooped
but he can't read yet, so he's probably just making stuff up
can he count? pee is 1 poop is 2
tss, please start from 0
we're not mathematicians here
effluence
a function that indexes from 1
it's in the human.digest
ns
(this was always the argument on my university between CS and math students)
[ damn ]
*out*
...
(binding [*out* potty] ...)
can *out*
be bound to two channels?
why?
a dynamic var can only be bound to one thing per thread, just create another thread...
if you bind potty to just one output channel it's a bug
it's quite accurate, only one person can "print" into the potty at a time
yeah but they can do so from two printers 🙂
(defrecord Potty [out0 out1])
solved
I really want to see the linter for that 🙂
human.core:14:30: unused potty
human.core:14:50: invalid arity in call to ->Potty
where was that @borkdude?
University of Twente
👍
remember to flush out!
must be after my time...
or actually thinking about it... I didn't know that many CS people there.
I still feel like the args should be pos-int?
not nat-int?
😉
what did you study there?
streams and logs .... make your own jokes now
flush on new ... line
cljs.user=> *flush-on-newline*
true
I did electrical engineering at the Hogeschool.. but lived on campus for a while
cool
but that was a long time ago....
well, it wasn't yesterday for me either,
IMHO flush
should be used as the close
function and then the potty can bindings can be done using open-with
🙂
although it doesn't feel that long ago still
last century for me (almost)
I started there in 99
haven't been in Enschede since 2006 I think.
I still come there every few years, but not that often
I started in 94 and finished aug 2000. so last few months didn't really count as I was in the UK at that time.
[ yes I have had two kids so can speak as a domain expert ... don't flush during the operation ]
should we use locking
then?
what about dirty eviction?
locking
✅
dirty evictions are the norm
maybe we can also call System/gc
just to make sure no "garbage" is left after flushing
not x-platform but yeah
CLJS is only for front-end
oh yeah!
I mean, who wants to be called back on the toilet?
yeah, this is a much better and more realistic version of callback hell than you usually get on conference talks
Wow that’s early!
and I was saying such nice things about this community earlier today. Now it has all gone to 💩
😉
@reefersleep congrats on the achievement 🙂
He’s been going on the toilet, with me holding him above it, since 2 months or so. He’s just gotten too strong, long and lively for that to be feasible anymore 😄
Started doing it after learning about Elimination Communication (EC). He hated having a wet diaper, so it really improved his general mood.
Thanks!
Weeeellll I’d like for him to be able to sign me when he wants to go potty, and to be able to sit on the potty by himself. I’d say we’ve got a ways to go yet 🙂 Also, crawling, walking, talking and all that. Presently, he can push himself backwards on the floor and rotate aimlessly, and shout drunkenly and blow raspberries and stuff like that
🙂 kids do that to ya
We tried EC in the early days and had moderate success but we couldn’t keep it up. So we gave up and we’ll start over.
At 18 months she knows the concept of poop and potty and sometimes she will ask for it and sit and try but it looks like it’s still a game
Yup, sounds like your duties are complete. Job done 🙂
It’s not a full success here. Every time I change him, with or without helping him pee/defecate, there’s a risk that he’ll cry and/or scream. He’s never liked being changed. It’s disheartening.
And there are many times where I can’t interpret his need to pee in time, mostly when he’s laying with his toys having fun. That’s no catastrophe, but it feels a bit silly after literally thousands of diaper changes. But, I just take off the wet diaper, offer him to pee (and he usually needs to), then put on a new one. I still have hopes that he’ll learn to sign when he needs the potty so that it becomes more straightforward, and I’m also hoping that he’ll be diaper free at an early age. But we’ll see 🙂
Even if it’s not regular, it’s great that your girl sometimes can recognise and express her need. Fingers crossed that it’ll become more steady! 🤞 🤞
Easier than I thought!
