Morning
Gor morgon!
How's it going @pez 🙂
All good! Sweet long midsummer weekend. How are things for you? Where in the world are you btw? The time Slack shows indicate that you are somewhere close to where you where raised? 😃
I'm in the UK 🙂 Just woke up really early this morning. Not been sleeping well lately. I don't know if I could travel if I wanted to, I'm still not vaccinated. I've not been able to book in so far.
I'm a bit surprised by that given how well the UK seems to be doing with vaccinations, at least compared to mainland Europe. What gives?
@seancorfield Combination of: Limited access to a car, so I have to use the walkable vaccination centre; Not long been on the list for being allowed to get vaccinated; My local vaccination centre had 1 day available over the next 10 days, and I was very busy that day. I need to check again to see if they've opened up any more slots.
I think each centre gets vaccines sporadically too, so that might factor in. My partner got called in at the end of the day with "We've got spares". But that was because she was priority and went via the GP, I'm not sure if that changes things.
I guess the UK hasn't really got its act together as much as the (inter)national press indicates... good to know...
Could be the other way around 😄 Everyone is getting vaccinated and no vaccines left over for me 😜
My county: "79.6% of eligible residents have received at least one dose, while 66.2% (about 925,000 people) are fully vaccinated" -- total pop. 1.7M.
They've recently opened up to the 18-24 range I think (or maybe 20-24). They're the most eager to go out and get vaccinated so they can go out to pubs etc. again.
How old/young are you? (if you don't mind me asking)
(over here they're having problems getting that age range in to get vaccinated -- the over 40's crowd swamped the vaccination centers but the youngsters think they're immortal)
I'm 24. All the other young people I know have booked in as soon as their letter arrived. They're so desperate to get out again.
24! Goddamn !
Ah, you're younger than I thought! My wife and I are both "50+" and she got an appointment the very first day we were eligible (April 1st) and I was a week later.
I get that a lot. It's my general pessimism about the world that ages me.
And now we (vaccinated people) have almost no restrictions here: no masks required, no social distancing, even indoors. It's quite surreal that I can go into a shop and see the staff's faces and they can see mine 🙂 The local liquor store has almost zero masked people, although the grocery store still has mostly masked folks.
Admittedly I've not been that proactive about it. If I'd been quick I'd have been fine as they did 22-24 and then a week later opened up 18-22.
24! Omg.
Morning
@dominicm you're getting younger every time you mention your age
