Guys I think I may have found our first speaker. All Functional Programming languages are based on the logical formalisms in Church’s lambda calculus. I just attended a great introductory talk to this by Melvin Zhang and he is happy to give the same talk again. I think a basic understanding of lambda calculus will enable anyone to get so much more of of Clojure so I am suggesting for the first official talk we start at the start and start with an introduction to Lambda Calculus by Melvin

I have just had a request by someone else for an intro to Clojure and I think a presentation on clojure based around Adam Bard’s learn Clojure in 15 minutes might be a great follow up to the lamda calculus on the same night, thoughts.

I don’t mind doing it and as a newbie I have no fear, no knowledge and dinasour thick skin but if there is someone who would like to do this please step forward

I’m thinking about offering to do a talk on spacemacs/emacs for clojure, but want some more time to actually code anything before I fully offer

@jestinepaul: yeah, I’m using a code keyboard. I recently tried out truly ergonomic and type matrix as well. I really liked the truly ergonomic but it become too troublesome when I was using the laptop after having used the truly ergonomic for a long time 😛
