2021 inches ever closer...

dharrigan 2020-12-29T17:56:57.273600Z

For the last few days, I would prefer "2021 centimeters' ever closer..."

dharrigan 2020-12-29T17:58:23.274100Z

However, will accept button, as it's cute.

seancorfield 2020-12-29T18:03:58.274400Z

I never went decimal 🙂

dharrigan 2020-12-29T18:12:54.275100Z

What's the view in 'murica? Is it being reported postivitely or negatively in the US of A?

seancorfield 2020-12-29T18:17:57.276900Z

Which "it" are you referring to? The upcoming new year? Still looks like we're going to see a massive spike in cases from idiots gathering for Christmas and for New Year (most of California is under a stay-at-home order until some time in January, which will almost certainly be extended into February at this point).

dharrigan 2020-12-29T18:18:27.277600Z

brexit

seancorfield 2020-12-29T18:19:52.278200Z

To be honest, most 'muricans have no idea what Brexit is about 😐

dharrigan 2020-12-29T18:20:29.279100Z

fair comment 🙂

seancorfield 2020-12-29T18:20:43.279400Z

Of those who do, you can probably guess that the MAGA crowd think Brexit is great and the "educated coastal elites" think Brexit is terrible 🙂

seancorfield 2020-12-29T18:21:54.280700Z

(right now there's so much political polarization here that folks in some states are actually talking about secession from the union -- it's the confederacy all over again 😞 )

seancorfield 2020-12-29T18:23:57.281900Z

I saw a bunch of social media stuff about how the new Brexit deal bill has stuff about Netscape Communicator being "modern email software" and SHA-1 being appropriate encryption :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing:

dharrigan 2020-12-29T18:48:20.282100Z

Yes

dharrigan 2020-12-29T18:48:22.282300Z

Hilarious

dharrigan 2020-12-29T18:48:29.282500Z

It's on the BBC news, front page too

dharrigan 2020-12-29T18:49:18.283500Z

It's not very inspiring for the future, if they are referencing best-practices using obsolete software and more worryingly encryption/hashing practices.

I guess we shouldn't have expected much different from HMG...

When the EU upgrades to sha-2 will we be penalized for being too far from their standards?

😂 1
