alexmiller: I'd still rather we didn't have a clash on the dates. If it is unavoidable this time then that is OK. clojurex dates tend to get announced at the end of the conf, so we generally know our date 1yr in advance.

Yeah it's definitely not our preference

alexmiller 2016-06-12T12:59:35.000008Z

Between the late EuroClojure and the US holidays and when venues had availability we got into a narrow spot this year

2016-06-12T13:01:24.000010Z

alexmiller: what date do you usually aim at for the conj?

2016-06-12T13:01:38.000011Z

clojurex is usually 1st or 2nd week of Dec

alexmiller 2016-06-12T13:02:01.000012Z

Normally we try for right before Thanksgiving but this year we couldn't get any good venue dates then

2016-06-12T13:02:06.000013Z

T-day on 24 Nov?

2016-06-12T13:02:11.000014Z

gotcha

alexmiller 2016-06-12T13:03:18.000015Z

We couldn't go earlier this year because of Euro

2016-06-12T13:03:44.000016Z

that makes sense

2016-06-12T13:04:18.000017Z

are you thinking about stabl-ish dates for Euroclojure in the future? I understand that with just taking it over that it might still be a bit unstable

alexmiller 2016-06-12T13:05:00.000018Z

We'd prefer to have before summer, just had a really hard time finding a good option this year

2016-06-12T13:05:13.000019Z

ok

2016-06-12T13:05:14.000020Z

will the conj be in NC again?

alexmiller 2016-06-12T13:05:20.000021Z

No

alexmiller 2016-06-12T13:05:32.000022Z

Hasn't been there for years

2016-06-12T13:06:09.000023Z

East coast still?

alexmiller 2016-06-12T13:06:30.000024Z

Haven't announced yet ;)

alexmiller 2016-06-12T13:07:15.000025Z

We like to wait till we have a contract

2016-06-12T13:07:20.000026Z

I'm wondering if we can take advantage of the date clash. Not sure if we'd be able to get someone in London who you would like to have on a screen at the conj & possibly vice versa given only a 5hr time diff

alexmiller 2016-06-12T13:07:39.000027Z

Interesting

2016-06-12T13:07:59.000028Z

the new skills matter location makes a lot of those things simpler for us until we start going north of 300 attendees

alexmiller 2016-06-12T13:08:05.000029Z

We should totally think about that

2016-06-12T13:08:30.000030Z

lemons -> lemonade

2016-06-12T13:08:34.000031Z

😄

alexmiller 2016-06-12T13:08:58.000032Z

I will pass that along

2016-06-12T13:09:01.000033Z

thx

alexmiller 2016-06-12T13:09:06.000034Z

Then it's a party

2016-06-12T13:09:14.000035Z

yup 😄

2016-06-12T13:09:41.000036Z

btw, I don't work for skills matter, but they are so amazing at hosting so many groups in London that I try to do what I can to help them

2016-06-12T13:10:10.000037Z

the conferences are a bit like a bake sale

alexmiller 2016-06-12T13:10:13.000038Z

They do seem to be everywhere

2016-06-12T13:10:22.000039Z

but we don't eat the speakers. (usually)

2016-06-12T13:10:48.000040Z

Wendy is very active. It can sometimes be hard road, but they seem to be doing OK atm

2016-06-12T13:11:17.000041Z

Wendy == CEO of Skills Matter

agile_geek 2016-06-12T13:21:33.000043Z

I like the sound of a Trans Atlantic conference with speakers on screen at the alternate location...kind of Clojure Live Aid!

alexmiller 2016-06-12T14:06:22.000044Z

I think that would be a lot of fun

I suspect I'm asking for the technical gremlins to strike but a cross conference panel would be cool. I think it might be a bit too difficult to mediate though.
