if you try to understand the differences between the various implementations, then you definitely should just go through the whole docs/course methodically, linearly. this is a learning trick which works very well for me. i have ADHD, so im very likely to jump around the docs. however, if im planning to use something for sure, for a long time, then i force myself to swallow the whole docs "at once". it's a bit painful but over the coming years (or even weeks) it really pays off! u will simply remember where did u have the answer to a question in the docs roughly or in which docs have u seen it.
u should talk more about your explorations! i think many of us on these channels are going through similar experiences and it would be great if they can find discussions about common obstacles via the zulip chat archives: https://clojurians.zulipchat.com/#narrow/stream/180378-slack-archive/topic/datahike/near/205504510
