@jellea: not sure if that make you pay attention to the talk more closely or prevents you from actually understanding anything (as the transcriber)

@ordnungswidrig: the advantage is, if you didn’t understand so much, you did just transcribe the talk to read again

socksy: good point!

Hello.

hello everybody

Transcripts are awesome - I can view them offline (yay long train trip with bad internets), and I can grep them, and I can fast forward/rewind trivially, and I can skim them at work without headphones.

ordnungswidrig 2015-07-02T13:25:37.000885Z

korny: very good points for transcripts, especially the search / skim

2015-07-02T13:35:34.000886Z

plus fully indexable by search engines

ordnungswidrig 2015-07-02T13:47:07.000887Z

aleksander: I wouldn’t be surprised if google already indexes videos with automatic transcription

2015-07-02T13:49:39.000888Z

but that would still mean that - unless they use different solutions for youtube and search engine - their automatic transcription is not of good quality

ordnungswidrig 2015-07-02T13:53:57.000889Z

aleksander: it might be good enough for a search index. If the transcription has a confidence value only the „good parts“ could end up in the corpus.
