inversion of control means different things for different people. in a traditional di / spring popularization sense: yes. I do believe though that spring (not the latest magical boot box, but in its original form: up to 3.X) is super helpful and useful in Java, since Java is OOP and usually objects couple state and behavior so you need an orchestrator. Clojure and other functional languages do not have that problem, since in FP we are focused on data and transformations instead.
