I think it would probably be fine if you are starting a job and the embedded ZK in the same jar, and using it in a non clustered mode, but YMMV

it’s not intended to be used for production cases, but if you don’t need persistence it may be ok. Bear in mind you won’t be able to use things like resume points, and you will still need to use the S3 checkpointing scheme.
