Hi
heyy
I was curious if anyone actually hangs out here.
Maybe there is somewhere else where overtone enthusiasts like to gather?
the overtone google group has the most activity
overtone has been losing some traction
I want to solve that by fixing some of the scsynth issues. First have to find some time to do it though.
The first thing that people run into is that (boot) crashes
I have had no end of trouble getting it running on arch linux. I often find myself wanting to play with it, spend a couple of hours trying to get it to work, then give up.
I guess most people use macos
good to hear that it works good on arch linux
no jack issues ?
No, you misunderstood 😄 I have had it working at some point in the past but then I found it broken at a later date by some unknown update.
Could be jack issues, I never find the time to properly understand the sound servers/interfaces.
its always tricky with linux. there are so many audio systems, so many glibc versions
ALSA/jack is the setup i'm going for, I find I get general sound issues if I add pulseaudio to the mix.
my feeling is that overtone should be compiled with ALSA as default the ALSA library will work if pulseaudio is used
glad to hear that my suspicion of JACK is not based on a fantasy 😉
the problem is that JACK wants absolute control over the audio device
there's an overtone group also in the live-coding team, at least there you'll find samaaron lurking on that channel, if he ever gets seperated from sonicpi there is to say.
#live-coding ?
not on clojurians
other slack group ?
I already have so many slack groups to manage 😞
yes, called live-coding, that overtone group is still not active and probably wont.
well, it's a bit active, meh.
At least I know people are quietly lurking here.
