wow the atom beta really is a good amount faster

dvcrn 2016-08-10T02:39:01.000222Z

huge difference from what I can tell

Hmm, I just updated my Atom (not the beta) and now Proton is crashing on startup.

2016-08-10T05:37:01.000225Z

Kind of frustrating that when something goes wrong with Proton, it basically locks up Atom with a modal that you can’t close (without diving into the Developer Tools). 😕

dvcrn 2016-08-10T07:27:59.000227Z

good point, that should not happen

spectre 2016-08-10T09:35:30.000228Z

@dvcrn yea, atom beta is looking really promising with the speed increase

spectre 2016-08-10T09:35:58.000229Z

btw, have you considered adding the ability to toggle the startup (Welcome to proton) screen? I think it’s cool at times, but sometimes when I just wanna start immediately, it makes it feel like things are loading slower

dvcrn 2016-08-10T09:48:13.000231Z

I want to make it less intrusive and move it into a corner, but I think it should stay there. All packages are needed before initialization can get finished and configuration applied so if you were to directly start coding it could have weird results or shortcuts that don't do anything

spectre 2016-08-10T10:02:17.000232Z

I see, wasn’t sure if it was necessary but now I see why the start screen is there

dvcrn 2016-08-10T10:02:45.000233Z

but we could make it disappear instantly if no changes happened

dvcrn 2016-08-10T10:02:58.000234Z

right now there is a setTimeout

spectre 2016-08-10T10:04:22.000235Z

right

spectre 2016-08-10T10:04:43.000236Z

yeah I think that would be ideal to change if no changes happened

spectre 2016-08-10T10:04:54.000237Z

but I guess there’s a novelty to seeing the welcome screen lol

spectre 2016-08-10T10:05:04.000238Z

anyways, I am off to bed
