Sunday Evening Drinks > After the tour, around 17:30, and still open to all, you are most welcome to join us for a friendly chat and drinks at a local pub. We will be meeting in front of the National Gallery entrance located at Trafalgar Square (https://goo.gl/maps/Eq16UesTXmcm9RK36). I won't be able to make 5.30 rendez-vous, but am interested in coming out on Sunday evening are you going to publish where everyone has gone on this group?

reborg 2019-11-27T14:43:03.114700Z

Yes, we’ll publish here. We don’t have a choice yet for the place, likely around Trafalgar where the tour finishes. Actually, suggestions welcome.

reborg 2019-11-27T14:45:33.115100Z

But definitely, feel free to join anytime :)

dotemacs 2019-11-27T14:59:25.116Z

The same here, I’m attending some birthday party, which I only found out that is being held in the afternoon, so I won’t be able to make the walk. But I’ll be coming to the drinks for sure!

2019-11-27T15:13:23.116300Z

oooh I suggest https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_Cross_Tavern

2019-11-27T15:13:48.116700Z

passed it by lots of times

2019-11-27T15:14:08.116900Z

only passed though its doors once

dharrigan 2019-11-27T15:16:13.117100Z

Seems as good as place as any 🙂

dharrigan 2019-11-27T15:16:48.117300Z

I won't be on the tour or drinks - I'm out in the sticks and since I'm at the conference all day on Monday, one has to make tradeoffs (with the family!)

reborg 2019-11-27T15:33:59.117700Z

bring the family of course!

reborg 2019-11-27T15:34:09.117900Z

:)

dharrigan 2019-11-27T15:34:26.118100Z

Extremely unlikely, given one of them is 2 years old 🙂

reborg 2019-11-27T15:34:51.118300Z

@ben.hammond thanks for the suggestion, will browse a bit. I should be there (but skipping the tour)

Would people be interested in a #conjure (Clojure in Neovim) informal workshop and demo at some point during the day? Maybe in the breakout hacking area? (That space is a fantastic idea!) I'll probably also head to the pub on Sunday to say hi and preach the cult of :wq.

Olical 2019-11-28T11:46:43.130900Z

From other thread: "I'm thinking 1:10ish during the pizza party for half an hour?"

reborg 2019-11-28T11:51:42.131200Z

@olical I can see if we can get a display to the hacking room. I’d avoid using the main room at lunch time, as with ~150 people inside you’d struggle hearing a word and at the same time, I’d let people free of socializing away instead of asking for silence

reborg 2019-11-28T11:52:15.131400Z

just thinking about it, so maybe there are other solutions

Olical 2019-11-28T12:00:37.131900Z

Yeah, I was thinking the hacking room, doubt there will be toooo many people anyway. If there's no display that's okay, I can just talk about it and have people get it running on their own laptops.

reborg 2019-11-28T12:05:54.132300Z

Just checking, I remember the venue talking about a rolling TV stand.

reborg 2019-11-28T12:06:19.132500Z

it could be good to have anyway, for any other hacking display purposes 😬

reborg 2019-11-28T12:08:51.132700Z

ah Bummer they don’t.

reborg 2019-11-28T12:09:18.132900Z

let me talk with the organizers and see

Olical 2019-11-27T16:01:32.120800Z

I was originally going to talk about this at Clojure eXchange but changed my mind when it fell through due to being overworked. A little workshop would be okay though!

dharrigan 2019-11-27T16:05:28.121200Z

Your contribution would be awesome Oliver!

dharrigan 2019-11-27T16:05:59.121600Z

We could advertise it, and if people are interested, they could put their name down?

Olical 2019-11-28T11:46:16.130600Z

I'm thinking 1:10ish during the pizza party for half an hour?

flefik 2019-11-27T16:55:24.121700Z

I know a few places around there

flefik 2019-11-27T16:56:40.122200Z

This is quite nice, and probably not busy on a Monday

flefik 2019-11-27T16:57:02.122400Z

They do both beer and wine

flefik 2019-11-27T16:57:22.122600Z

Next to it is the Golden Lion for a larger crowd which is a typical Greenes

flefik 2019-11-27T16:57:38.122800Z

the good thing about it is it spills out into the alleyway so it can accommodate a large number of people

flefik 2019-11-27T17:00:39.123Z

And there is also Blue Posts https://www.google.com/maps/place/Blue+Posts/@51.5069625,-0.1400222,16.97z/data=!4m8!1m2!2m1!1sblue!3m4!1s0x0:0x8b17e94d52ee3429!8m2!3d51.5069236!4d-0.140537 That one might be the best choice as it’s very spacious

2019-11-27T17:00:40.123200Z

I'm always interested in seeing other folk's workflows

2019-11-27T17:01:18.123500Z

Cursive is nice, but there's always that itch...

flefik 2019-11-27T17:01:19.123700Z

If we head the other direction north/northeast from Leicester there are many good options too, but they will be quite a bit busier

Olical 2019-11-27T17:01:59.123900Z

Sure! If there's no interest, no biggie. Was just going to do something small and informal. A kinda demo with help getting it running and how to use it.

reborg 2019-11-27T17:02:24.124100Z

Not sure what numbers to expect so we could keep a few options open and decide based on the crowd at the moment. We could keep a list of these nice suggestions and the phone number handy (in case we want to check before moving). IMHO the best place is not too noisy/crowdy and typical english

Olical 2019-11-27T17:11:31.124600Z

Hah, well I'll be more than happy to show the workflow, I think it's pretty neat but I would say that. Hopefully I can help others get it running too, blog post about that here https://oli.me.uk/getting-started-with-clojure-neovim-and-conjure-in-minutes/

dotemacs 2019-11-27T17:26:35.125Z

The conference is there for the community, so if you’re keen to show off your “lightsabre”, then by all means go for it! 🙂

I know of at least two people going who would be very excited to see that
