๐Ÿ‘‹ Hey Everybody, I looking after hiring here at Griffin and we're growing our engineering team! We're a new Banking as a Service provider (think AWS for financial services), currently seeking authorisation to become a fully regulated bank, so that we can provide safeguarding and client money bank accounts to our customers. We believe that in the future, most financial innovation will happen outside banks rather than inside them, and Griffin will be the platform that all future fintechs use rather than the boring big banks. About half of the leadership team has prior experience setting up a new bank in the UK and the process is well underway. We're looking for thoughtful people who strive to be kind in their words and actions. As product designers, we are always looking for ways to simplify complex things and we take security very seriously. As a financial institution, we believe that our customers' trust is our single most valuable asset and we will go above and beyond to earn and keep it. We have an office in London but our team are distributed throughout the UK, Ireland, Germany, Sweden and Portugal. We're unfortunately still small so can only employ people in those countries for now. Our tech stack: Clojure, Kafka, Datomic, and Kubernetes. Just out of curiosity... how being a small company/team can limit the countries you can hire in? :thinking-face:

Apparently itโ€™s a hassle, probably legal things, but heard it before. Especially since itโ€™s about an internal role, and not consultancy. So they have to deal with income tax etc.

yep, and for small companies, they often just pay someone else to handle it, i.e. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professional_employer_organization although that is also expensive

Hi, Griffin co-founder here. Everything said above is correct. Even within the EU, there are tax and employment differences between countries, so we use a PEO, which is a fixed overhead on top of salary. Stock options are especially tricky, and require consulting with a local lawyer in every new country.
