is this irc ?
@xpika: yes, on steroids 😉
slack has many neat features not present in good old irc
I wanted to give a shoutout to at channel in the channel #C050VDRHW I created. this isn't possible, why is this restricted?
@borkdude: because of the nature the channel, and it could be abused to spam hundreds of users, it is limited to admins
I shall discuss with the others about the best way to manage this
@gjnoonan: maybe some people can be an admin of a channel instead of globally?
don't know if that's supported by slack
Since we are not paying customers we are starting to lose access to comments and Knowledge...
as slack usage picks up, the history restriction becomes extremely onerous. maybe slack would give a freebie to a lovely community like this?
https://slack.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204368833-Slack-for-Nonprofits-program refers to this. "But what about educational programs? Open source projects? Friends and family?" "We're considering potential discount programs or pricing plans for other groups and organizations using Slack, and may add these in the future. Please check back!"
alas,not at the moment
> up to 100 members.
😞
worth applying I'd say anyway, this might be the first point of contact with slack for a lot of cutting edge developers (that's you!)
conan: I have been on contact with slack, a lot, and they are not currently willing to budge
Should we just whip up a replacement in Clojure/ClojureScript?
boo
There are other ways to game the history restriction
they most likely also break the ToS...
