if I can ask - what’s the impetus? Dislike of slack or preference of other platform? Something more “open”?

2 things, for me: the 10k limit on msgs, and the lack of transparency and commitment to openness. see the saga of linux and bitkeeper.

fwiw i love slack's functionality, i just don't trust them.
