I'm getting warnings about having run out of space when I uploaded a screenshot. It says I'm supposed to have 5G available but I've only got 3 small files. I'm not sure people saw my screenshot (as its been out there a few hours w/no responses). Did my screenshot get posted and how do I stop the nag?
@vigilancetech The nag is because we're on a free plan -- because the paid plan would be many, many thousands of dollars a month.
And, yes, I'm sure your screenshot got posted anyway.
But we would all do well to delete old files.
The entire plan -- for 12K people -- has 5G of file space and we're well over that.
@seancorfield ah, so we all get the nag all the time?
@vigilancetech Yup, anyone who tries to upload a file gets the nag. The file uploads just fine tho'...
ok, whew good to know. Thanks!
FWIW, with the number of active users we have, it would cost $8,560 a month to run this Slack on a paid plan.
well, I'm bound to win the lottery sometime soon so that should be no problemo!
Is there a suggestion box for Slack somewhere that we can suggest that individuals who pay a more-in-line-wth-individual-budget monthly amount could get access to search longer clojurians Slack history, while those who use it for free continue to get the more limited history? That seems like something that could make Slack some money, while not being an all-or-nothing payment for the whole group of users.
@andy.fingerhut That would be a massive change to how Slack works, compared how their billing/payment system works today.
Also, from Slack's Pricing FAQ:
Can I upgrade Slack just for myself, instead of upgrading everyone in our workspace?
Unfortunately, no. Slack is built for teams, and our paid plans are doubly so. To upgrade Slack, you’ll need to upgrade your entire workspace at once.
Yeah, not saying I know how difficult it would be for them to offer. I found a "Contact" page on Slack's home page and sent them a message about the idea, anyway.
I'm sure hundreds of people have asked for that feature 🙂
OK, so they've seen that suggestion before quite a bit 🙂
They probably have a better guesstimate than I of the cost for them to offer that, and the estimated extra income. The more often they see the suggestion, their estimate for the estimated extra income might rise enough to offset the cost.
it's also possible that this makes some teams withdraw team payment and only pay for managers. It may not be such a clear-cut win for slack to offer this
Yeah, I had not considered that possibility. No worries. I'm glad I got an official answer, and it isn't just because they hadn't thought of the idea before.
